Shane Warner

Shane graduated from the University of Otago in 2009 and has been working in the musculoskeletal field ever since.

 

He has worked in Sydney, London and Perth in various roles including as an onsite physiotherapist at a remote Western Australian mine. Since returning to New Zealand in 2017, he has been working primarily in Vocational Health with large businesses managing workplace pain, discomfort or injury.

 

Outside of work, Shane is a father to three girls and an average golfer.

After graduating from the Auckland University of Technology in 2002, Paul enjoyed working overseas for a number of years in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy. During this time he completed his Masters in Sports and Exercise Medicine before coming back to live in New Zealand. He joined the Workfocus team in early 2021 and has enjoyed working in the Vocational Rehabilitation space, particularly being involved in Early Intervention Programs.

 

When he is not working, he has a 7 year old son to chase around and triathlon training to keep him busy.

  • Current candidate for Post Graduate Certificate in Health Science in Rehabilitation.

Alex Dougall

Alex is originally from Edinburgh in Bonnie Scotland and came to NZ in 2012 after graduating from Robert Gordon University. She has worked in private practices across Auckland since then and has gained a wealth of experience with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions. Alex has taught Pilates since 2017 and enjoys integrating these principles into treatment where appropriate. Alex has been with the Work Focus team since April 2023 and is doing a split role of Administrator/Physiotherapist. 

 

In her spare time you'll find Alex running around after her 2 young children and frolicking about on the netball court.

  • BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy

  • APPI Matwork Pilates Level 1 and 2

  • Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand Registered

Alex Dougall

Shane graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Otago University in 2009. Since then Shane has worked in hospital, musculoskeletal and sports settings but has found a passion for Occupational Health Physiotherapy. 

​

Shane is motivated to work towards greater awareness and impact of Occupational Health Physiotherapy expertise and value amongst workplaces and key stakeholders within New Zealand. This has led Shane onto National and International committees and working groups in this field.

​

Shane is based in Tauranga covering workplace services including injury prevention, early intervention and return to work management.

Shane is also a father of two and enjoys family time and socialising with friends.

Shane Meys

Paul graduated from the RGU university in Aberdeen, Scotland in 2001. He initially worked in the British NHS system before returning to Waikato Hospital, and then onto private practice. He initially focused on sports medicine, attending local and international sporting events as Lead physiotherapist for Cycling NZ in their Olympic and Commonwealth Games programs 

 

In 2015 he went on to set up and manage a multidisciplinary rehabilitation clinic working across ACC, TPA and DHB stakeholders, working  primarily with spinal assessment and rehabilitation, alongside vocational , chronic pain, and health and well-being contract programs, before joining the Workfocus team in 2022.

 

Outside of work Paul is married with two young boys, and enjoys snowboarding and cycling outside. His sons think he is the fourth best athlete in the family.

Zigie Vallender

Originally a Waikato farm girl, Zigie graduated from AUT University in 2012 and has since been based in Auckland working in musculoskeletal physio, chronic pain management and vocational rehabilitation. She has completed post graduate study including training in western acupuncture and is also a qualified mat Pilates and yoga instructor. Zigie takes a holistic approach to rehabilitation and enjoys incorporating functional strength training where able to bridge the gap between work fitness and personal wellness.

Outside of work Zigie is mother of two young boys and hence spends a lot of time playing with fire trucks, catching bad guys with Spiderman, and looking at bugs. She paints and cooks in any spare time leftover.

Caroline Muller-Ward

Caroline has been working in private physiotherapy clinics for almost 20 years, since graduating from AUT in 2005. She has extensive experience in treating musculoskeletal injuries; including sprains, sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, and pregnancy and post-natal pain and rehabilitation. Caroline uses a combination of manual therapy, dry needling and exercise prescription.

As well as her vocational physiotherapy work, Caroline continues as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist in her own clinic. She has worked in various roles, including as a tournament physiotherapist with representative netball teams, as an onsite physiotherapist at Auckland Netball Centre, in a pilates and wellness studio and at Ascot Hospital in the in-patient wards.

 

Outside of physiotherapy, Caroline is involved with acting, craft beer and is kept busy by her children and dogs.

  • PAANZ Certificate in Musculoskeletal and Segmental Dry Needling
